Zupan's one-act play Aki was the most frequently performed play out of all the propaganda one-act plays. The text portrays a true hero, a Partisan youth in his teens. In his Wind of Joy Kumbatovič remembers Zupan thus: »the only person to be seen walking around Črnomlje is Vitomil Zupan: he is a gloomy Partisan with occasional fits of city snobbery and mercenary impulses, a one-time sailor and a student of engineering, elegant and cosmopolitan, a polyglot and a jester, prefers to be unpleasant rather than pleasant and popular with the ladies ... we put him on the Črnomelj course ... he was bored stiff, knowing everyone there ... despite his ways, he is an asset: he's written four propaganda sketches, and we've performed them all.«
