Excerpt from the TVprogramme Theatre amidst the Rifles (Time that Lives), directed by Helena Koder, produced by RTV Slovenija, 1977

On the liberated territories two drama courses were organised and ran until the liberation: in Črnomlje and in Semič. The programme consisted of the theoretical part (lectures on theory and politics) and practical work (acting, singing, voice coaching and dance). Lectures on politics were given by Boris Kidrič, Boris Kraigher and Boris Ziherl. Josip Vidmar lectured on a play’s structural properties, Matej Bor on the playwright’s creative process, Ciril Cvetko on music, Mile Klopčič on Slovene prosody, Branko Simčič on scenography, Filip Kalan on the history of theatre, Štefan Suhi taught ballet, Jože Tiran and Jože Gale taught voice coaching, mimicry, acting and recitation. The course attendants had to take real exams in front of a committee and at the end they performed in front of an audience. Three groups of actors emerged out of the course: acting group of the 9th corpus, the front theatre of 7th corpus and the permanent group of actors on the liberated territories.
