The actors took on the first great play in three acts, »a true liberation score« (Kumbatovič), with great gusto. Lojze Potokar was masterly in his work with the actors. »The hall was packed... the temperature in the auditorium was on the rise… the finalle of the third act, salvos of automatic rifles ... this acoustic battle was the work of Lojze Potokar. He was given an automatic rifle, and a couple of wooden chopping blocks were placed under the stage so that he thundered against them ....« (Jože Gale, Actors Came, 1996). Three acting creations left a lasting impression on Kumbatovič : »Ema Starc in the role of the old Rutarica, an example of an enticing folk play with all the attributes of melodrama; France Presetnik as the old Rutar, energetic, non-calculating, at the heights of drama practically a monumental figure; Jože Gale in the figure of the Gestapo agent Ferlež, a convincing amalgam of a selfish moneygrabber and a philistine loafer.« (Filip Kalan, The Wind of Joy, 1975)
